🦭 People of the Sea In 2023 I wrote Muinntir na Mara (People of the Sea) for the @cantilenafestival on Islay, which described our relationship with seals and the impact this has within Scottish culture such as the Selkie. The violin melody was inspired by Fiona Middleton (performing), who performed violin on the granite coastline of Islay to seals appearing from the depths to listen to her music. Dedicating much of her life to the protection of seals and rehabilitation of injured seal pups, her stories inspired this piece, so to hear my music performed to the release of rehabilitated seals is truly inspiring. 🎻 Many thanks to Fiona of the Seals for sending me and performing this beautiful rendition of Muinntir Na Mara. 🎼 I’m delighted to finally share my re-score of Crow Moon (written and directed by Selina Wagner (@blobina )) recorded by @rsnoofficial in Scotland’s Studio. The film describes 'the story of the small crow who must learn how to keep himself and all the other crows safe from the swallowing darkness by creating the moon.' 📣 I’m thrilled to officially announce my re-score of the film Crow Moon (written and directed by @blobina ) will be performed live by @rsnoofficial in their Music of John Williams Concerts! Performances in Dundee Caird Hall, Edinburgh Usher Hall and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (1st, 2nd, 3rd May 2025). Composed as part of the RSNO’s Film Composers’ Lab, myself and 4 other composers were given the chance to re-score 5 films under the tuition of @patrickdoylemusic and @danaikokogia . These were then recorded by the RSNO in Scotland’s Studio. 🎼 It is an absolute delight to have my music programmed alongside the music which first inspired me to start composing and I would like to sincerely thank Patrick, Danai and everyone at RSNO for selecting my film score for this special performance. Over the next few days, I hope to share the recording for Crow Moon with the film, so stay tuned for more! 🎟️ Tickets for this premiere are available from the RSNO website. Commissioned by @rsnoofficial my Fanfare for Brass Quintet 'Arrival of the Motion Picture' was premiered this week in the Scottish Parliament. Written for @screenscots to celebrate the recent achievements in the Scottish film industry, I was invited to a celebratory event showcasing the latest developments where they performed my new work. 🎼 Written about the excitement of the mobile cinema 'Screen Machine' arriving in remote villages in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the piece showcases the significance cinema has within Scottish culture. A huge thank you to @rsnoofficial and @screenscots for performing and inviting me to this special event. Sept 2024 - Premiere in the Scottish Parliament

Commissioned by RSNO and Screen Scotland, my piece ‘Arrival of the Motion Picture’ for Brass Quintet was premiered in the Scottish Parliament as part of Screen Scotland’s parliamentary reception. Written as a celebratory piece for the recent achievements in Scottish cinema, ‘Arrival of the Motion Picture’ captures the excitement of the mobile cinema arriving in the towns and villages of the highlands and islands. What seems simply as a lorry traveling around the vast wilderness of Scotland, is often regarded as the highlight of the year for many in rural Scotland when it arrives. This not only shows the significance cinema has within the community but also how cinema is deeply engrained within Scottish culture and continues to inspire the next generation.
